Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of Lines and Substations – Barinas Division Oil Fields
Location: Barinas Division, Venezuela
Challenge / Objective
Preventive and corrective maintenance of the feeder and lines associated with the PTS, BORBURATA, TOREÑO PDVSA, and BARINAS NORTE substations. Includes line cleaning, nest and vine removal, disconnector replacement, replacement of damaged components, conductor installation, and more, at 13.8 kV and 34.5 kV levels, to eliminate fault occurrence points in the PDVSA Operational Field circuits.
Solution
- Environmental remediation plan: Deep cleaning of distribution networks with removal of nests, vegetation, and vines that cause contact faults.
- Component modernization: Full replacement of obsolete or damaged disconnectors and substitution of degraded electrical conductors at 13.8 kV and 34.5 kV levels.
- Substation adaptation: Rehabilitation and correction of critical points in feeders and lines associated with the PTS, Borburata, Toreño PDVSA, and Barinas Norte energy nodes.
- Vulnerability elimination: Permanent suppression of recurring fault points to stabilize the field's electrical circuit.
Results
- Service continuity: Drastic reduction of electrical interruptions and unplanned shutdowns in the PDVSA Operational Field.
- System stabilization: Mitigation of ground faults and short circuits through line cleaning, nest removal, and vine clearance.
- Network modernization: Greater reliability at 13.8 kV and 34.5 kV levels thanks to the replacement of disconnectors and damaged components.
- Operational flexibility: Optimization of isolation and load transfer operations at the PTS, BORBURATA, TOREÑO, and BARINAS NORTE substations.
